Something gleeful about Singapore. More here.
"You know, caning has fallen out of fashion in the United States. But ask anyone who’s safely walked the immaculate sidewalks of Singapore after winning an international cheerleading competition, and they’ll tell you one thing: caning works. And I think it’s about time we did a little more of it right here. And to all those naysayers out there who say, “That’s illegal. You can’t strike children on their bare buttocks with razor sharp bamboo sticks!”, I say, “Yes We Cane.” And that’s how Sue “C”s it." - Sue Sylvester I just hate to love this woman. After I watched the episode 'Wheels', she tore me up inside. Oh yes, caning does work (although I'm still having the emotional and psychological trauma from it). That's why I become a good kid. And I have to thank my parents for that. P.S. I may be posting a lot of stuff about Glee. Because it's the awesome(st) television show ever. Maybe not. Nothing beats That '70s Show and Kenan and Kel though.

The name's Gaspard Ulliel. He's french. (You might know him from Hannibal Rising.) Mom is a stylist, dad's a fashion designer. And the outcome = Effortless. Il est parfaitement chaude. Magnifique.

Hatred and racism will still exist until everyone stops being ignorant and opens up their eyes wide. This world needs a hug for humanity's sake.

*SPOILER ALERT*
I came across this poster before (somewhere in late January I think). But never hear about it. Perhaps this film did poorly at the box office because it had next to no publicity. This heart-thumping movie started off strong and painfully amusing. Portraying what the young US American soldiers do on a daily basis, and how the Iraqi people have been responding for the past donkey years, it's a major sore. The environment in Iraq, as we know it, is excruciating and full of madness (filmed in Jordan, which is safe, but right next door to Iraq). Many lives have been lost (and still counting). Specifically the children and the US soldiers who have family back at home. We live like there's no tomorrow. For them, they're likely to drop dead in an instant, not being able to see tomorrow. I like their attempt in dealing with the emotional stress which the soldiers encounter. It forced me to grab onto my seat, afraid for what is likely to happen to the characters. I barely recognised Ralph Fiennes as he had a short period of screen time. (Evangeline Lily was in it too.) I heart the scene where James is in a supermarket with his wife and son. He's asked to get a breakfast cereal. Finding the cereal aisle, he stares silently at the vast choices of the cereal boxes. It was an ironic, poignant moment, making me ponder: How does one return to his ordinary life after a year of insanity in Iraq?
The ending was a little disappointing though. The movie has won so many awards surprisingly. Oscar-worthy? Well, not so for me. There are numerous movies out there that could have easily beaten this. I'll give an 8 out of 10. Not that bad, really. One of the most realistic (and deathlike) movies I've ever seen. (Saving Private Ryan is still the best war movie to date.) Thanks for making this movie Kathryn. You rock. You win. And for a 58-year-old, you're definitely hot.
War is an effin' nightmare. The troops did not choose to fight this war. They suffer from the psychiatric burden and physical ailments of a terrible predicament that Bush has placed them in. Thank Almighty God I live nowhere near in countries at war. Hats off to the troops who have to deal with that. America needs to send them back home urgently please.

I'm jealous of my kid. He's flying off to Dubai later. UGH. I reminded him many times to stay close to his mommy and daddy and he gave me that yeah-I-know-no worries attitude. Have a safe trip and have fun kiddo. Sadly, tomorrow will be the last day for my another-kid who'll be transferring to another school. She's friendly and a very polite kid. We're so gonna miss you. .jpg)
I'm going on a date with my mom this Saturday. :D First, we're heading to Changi Village. (Changi Nasi Lemak for breakfast!) Then enjoy the breeze while kite-flying (pray it won't rain). After that, we're gonna watch My Name Is Khan! Second time bringing my mom to the movies. Hahs. (She hates going to the movies.) After the movie, maybe we'll do something spontaneous. Oh yeah, mommy-daughter girl time.

One of my kid's a big fan of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.
Another sang 'You Are Not Alone', which he claimed his all-time favourite song by Michael Jackson. And he knows the lyrics/tune perfectly well.
I was storytelling to the class about a book on this child's mother's birthday. The story went like this: the child was confused about getting the kind of present for her mom's birthday. So she asked the familiar people she meet along the street, and those different kinds of people gave her the different kinds of suggestions. Then I paused at the part where the neighbour suggested a box of chocolates to the girl.
Me: (to the class) Does your mom love chocolates? Mikaail: No. My mom doesn't like chocolates. She likes uhmm....panties.... Clarence: And bra?
And so, the rest of the class burst out laughing. Unknowingly, seconds later, I heard many yeses which they agree to that. *facepalms*

Strangers have always mistaken me for Chinese and/or Filipino.
Sometimes I fake it but they could tell.
An extraction of Javanese & Baweanese;
but I can converse, write & curse in fluent English & Malay.
I live in Singapore that hasn't been snowing since day one.
My childhood was wicked awesome. Everything was hakuna matata back then.
Life gets more complicating every day. But when times get real tough,
I'll find my inner peace & strength. And God.
I enjoy reflecting on the simple things in life, accompanied by nature.
I worship Adele, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay and Justin Nozuka.
Ellen Page is such a sincere and genuine person,
I wish I could take a day off to hang out with her.
I fist bump my close friends, including my mom. And thank you God, for everything.
